Welcome to FlyingMutt.Com
(Version
#2: Usagi Yojimbo Style)
You've stumbled across this little place I like to call home. This
website is my own personal corner of the world wide web. My
domain. Here I regularly host, mostly my own interests etc, but take a
look around, there may be a few things scattered here and there of
interest to you too.

The Domain: I've had a website since early 1999.
A Petz (look it up on google)
website called Suffolk Kennels. In mid 1999 I opened another small
website that ran alongside "SK", called Timberland
Cattery. Those
ran until late 1999 when decided to combine the two, and I then opened UK
Petz on the 12th of September. Petz was a major part
of my life, until I left the Community in late 2007. UK Petz ran for just over
eight years.
A few years back, I decided to buy a Domain Name, as I'd wanted one
for a few years, but never really looked into it properly.
I knew I wanted
a .com and not a .co.uk, but I wasn't sure on a name. It took me
awhile to come up with one, but I finally decided on:
ChickRockGuitar.
At first
ChickRockGuitar was just UK Petz's entrance page.
However, I soon decided to make a Personal website, and my
own little corner of the World-Wide-Web began. But
after a couple years with that name, I decided I wanted a change,
something a little shorter, perhaps? Again, it took
me a quite a while to come up with something, but finally
decided on FlyingMutt.Com! So, on the 1st of February
2006 this site was born!

Webmistress: You
want to read about me, huh? Well, the very basic's are at
the top of this website, on the right hand side. So we can
skip those. You can also find out about my Pets a little
way below the basics. So, again we can skip that. So, lets
talk about me in the general sense...
So, in General. Okay, let see, erm... well, I live
in the United Kingdom, but its no secret to my friends
and family, I would much rather live in the United
States, actually California. But I wouldn't
mind living in Oregon either. And, if I was asked,
I'd have to say, Canada wouldn't be a no-no.
I am a big Animal fan. Always have been, and always will
be. I'd have to say
my favourite animal is... hmm, I think its a tie between the wolf
and the Orca whale. Probably the wolf a little
more. I also
love Dogs. My favourite breed is... well, it's a tie between the Siberian Husky and the Border
Collie. I really can't decide between the two. I like the both
for different reasons. Among other dog breeds, my favourites include, Malamutes,
Tollers, Cocker Spaniels and the German Shepherd.
Also, Ferrets, Cheetahs and wild-Horses
are on my favourites list too.
Next, Hobbies. The Internet! Obviously. I enjoy
Photography, I mostly enjoy taking photos of
Animals and scenery. I have a PlayStation Portable (PSP)
game Console, which I play a less than regularly. I also am quite
into The Sims2 on the PC. I love to build things, lol. I am a huge fan of Books and Comics, especially
comics, and I could not live without the Television.
Read more about my favourites in those subjects below.
So, lets start with the Books. I like to read Books-in-Series.
As I like to read about a character, or a cast of characters
over a time period. I don't particularly like Novels.
Although the odd one every now and then is okay. I'd say, my
favourite series of all time has got to be
the Harry
Potter books by
JK
Rowling. Yep, I'm a big Harry Potter fan. And
I really like The Chronicles Of Ancient Darkness series by
Michelle
Paver.
Lets move on to Comics. Huge fan. Some of my friends
may say I'm obsessed. I am a big fan of
Marvel
Comics. My Favourite Comic has got to be X-Force
(I'm a huge huge X-Man fan), which is where most of my
"so-called" obsession lies, lol. You can read
about it further down the page. My other favourite series
include, Runaways, Astonishing X-Men and the
occasional Spider-Man issue/series. I am also a big fan of
the
Usagi
Yojimbo comic, published by
Dark
Horse Comics. And I also pick up the odd mini series or
story arc of a series that catches my attention. I'd say
my favourite Comicbook character is... well, really, it has got to
be Marvel's X-Mutant sixteen year old Laura Kinney, also
known as X-23.
Television. We all love it, don't we? Well, most do. My favourite shows
are: America's
Grey's Anatomy and
Terminator: Sarah Conner.
Australia's
Home
& Away and sometimes
Neighbours, The UK's
BBC's Robin Hood. I
do watch the UK's
Eastenders... when storylines aren't just plain stupid.
Which is pretty much most of the time. Before they
were cancelled (stupid, stupid networks!) or finished, favourite shows
were, Buffy The
Vampire Slayer, Angel, Charmed,
Firefly, Roswell, Dark
Angel, Gilmore Girls, Tru Calling, Bionic Woman and
Moonlight.
Moves. I love to watch movies! I like those teen
movies (however, not the stupid-humour ones), I also like
supernatural and historical. I do watch a
few comedies, but I don't like take-the-piss
comedies. I don't usually watch chick-flicks,
however, there's some that I've liked. And I go to see see
the occasional kids movie. My favourite movies are:
The Harry Potter series, Azumi, The Man
In The Iron Mask, The X-Men trilogy, Brother
Bear, The Lion King 1 & 2, Balto, and
also Spirit Stallion of The Cimarron. Look to
the right see movies I've watched.
So, my favourite Actor's include,
Brian Krause (Charmed),
Adam Brody (The OC),
Vincent Kartheiser (Angel),
Paul
O'Brien (Home & Away),
Jonas Armstrong (BBC's Robin Hood) and
Hugh Jackman
(X-Men). On the flipside, my favourite Actresses
include,
Eliza
Dushku (Buffy),
Holly Marie Combs
(Charmed),
Alyson Hannigan (Buffy),
Summer Glau (Firefly) and last but by
no means least
Alexis
Bledel (Gilmore Girls).
So, that just leaves one other category in the media
industry - Music. I own a Silver 4GB Apple iPod
Nano (2ndGen) In general I like Soft Rock, Alternative
Rock and Ballad Rock. Avril Lavigne and Michelle
Branch are a couple of my favourite solo Artists. Some
of my favourite Bands include, The Goo Goo Dolls, Green
Day, Nickleback and also Lifehouse. I get really frustrated
with the UK's Pop Charts. In fact, most of, if
not all of, the UK's music industry is load of crap, to be
honest...
I play Guitar. I've been playing for a few years
now. I'm not in a band, but I have done a couple live
gigs. I also sing a little as well, but I don't claim to
have a very good voice. I guess you could say, its...
passable, mostly... I have a Gibson Epiphone PR 350CE
Acoustic Electric
Guitar and a 1963 Telecaster Electric Guitar - which
is technically my Dads, but I've kinda, well, er... inherited it early,
haha. I'm looking for the perfect Electric Stratocaster
Guitar, no luck so far. But it will be found!
Okay, so lets move on to Food. Favourites include a
range of "fast-foods", (yeah, yeah, I
know...) Pizza, MacDonald's and Subway.
I enjoy some international foods, such as, Chinese
and Italian (mmm Lasagna). I'm also a very
big fan of the Fries - great invention! (or Chips
as called in the UK). I'd never survive as a vegetarian, I
love Steak and other meats!
Beverages, I'm not much for the alcohol, actually. I'd
much prefer a large glass of Apple Tango and sometimes Coke-a-Cola,
however, not to be confused with Pepsi. Yuck. Pineapple
Juice is another favourite. Johnny Rocket's Thick
Shakes (or restaurants that make them like JR's), wow!
I love those. We don't have them in the UK though, damnit!
So not fair! Its a crime. I could so live on Shakes like
those... mmmm.... I am also a fan of Starbucks' Frapperchinos.
So, on the flipside, the hot drinks... I like Hot
Chocolate and occasionally I like a cup 'o Tea
(how British is that?!). I've tried to like Coffee,
but I'm afraid I just can't... lol.
Hm, I can't think of much else really. Oh, I like
anything Samurai, comics, movies etc. I find the culture interesting.
That's why I'm such a big Usagi Yojimbo fan, hehe.
Hm, I'm not big on sports, but I guess you could say I support
my county's (England) Football (Soccer) team. I
also support the New York Yankees (Baseball) and Chicago
Bulls (Basketball) and I watch Wimbledon's Tennis
- I support
Twice world #1: Layton Hewitt.
Lastly, I thought I'd mention the Online Friends (Mwha!
*waves* Hey guys!): Fiona, Shian, Laura, Salem,
Bekki, Brett, Jill,
RoguishGurl and Nat. Erm, *thinks* I
hope I've not missed anyone out...

Comics: I admit it. I'm
a Comic Book fan. Would you have guessed? No? Oh well. I pick
up mostly
Marvel Comics, but I do pick up the occasional Comic
series from other publishers, such as Dark Horse
and Image. Some of my current favourite series' are listed below.
You can also see my complete Comic book collection
to the right.. and, uh, up slightly.

Title: X-Force
(Marvel Comics)
Writer: Craig Kyle & Chris Yost
Artist: Clayton Crain, Mike Choi/Sonia Oback
Synopsis: This is the darkest series of the X-books right now. It deals with the X-Men, going after their enemies before they come for them.
This secret wet-works team includes: Wolverine, X-23, Warpath
and a reluctant Wolfsbane - with frequent guest spots from: Angel, Elixir
and Cyclops.
My Say: This is by far the best X-Men comic
book on the market right now! The writing is awesome
and the art matches that quality. And there are some great
scenes between the characters. Plus my all time fave
X-character is on the team: X-23! |
Title: Uncanny X-Men
(Marvel Comics)
Current Writer: Matt Fraction & Ed
Brubaker
Current Artist: Greg Land & Terry Dodson
Synopsis: The X-Men book which started it
all in 1963. Uncanny X-Men is the lead X-book and
deals with the main events of the X-Men. Throughout
the years the character line-up has changed many a
time. Currently the main team consists of: Cyclops, Wolverine, Emma Frost, Angel, Colossus and Nightcrawler - With frequent guest spots from: Beast,
Storm and Pixie - as well as many others.
My Say: This is where you can expect to see
every X-character at some point. I've picked this up
over the years and at the moment it seems quite good. |

Title: Runaways (Marvel Comics)
Current Writer: Terry Moore
Current Artist: Humberto Ramos
Synopsis: Most Teens think their parents are
evil, but in the case of Nico, Chase, Molly, Gert,
Victor, Karolina, Alex (and Old Lace) - They
actually are. These teens - the "Runaways"
must band together to fight off their parents, avoid
social services, and protect the LA streets from "bad guys".
Standing by their number one rule:
"Never trust an adult".
My Say: This is one original story! The
Art is great, and the dialogue is snappy. Its nice
to see other Marvel characters like the Avengers,
Spider-Men etc guest star. Favourites: Nico, Chase,
Vic & Molly. |
Title: Spider-Man Loves
Mary Jane (Marvel Comics)
Current Writer: Terry Moore
Current Artist: Craig Rousseau
Synopsis: "Spidy Loves MJ" is the life
and times of Mary Jane Watson. The Series centers
around MJ and her circle of friends: best friend Liz
Allen, Liz's boyfriend Flash Thompson, friend Harry Osborne
and Harry's (now MJ's) nerdy friend Peter Parker
(who's secretly, of course Spider-Man). MJ's story
is all about the 'drama' of being a teen in high
school.
My Say: The nice thing about this series
is, its not Spidy centric, he takes a back
seat. But as a "Spidy" series, he does pop
up every so often, fighting the odd classic
Spider-Man villains, or just to talk to MJ. |

Title: Usagi Yojimbo (Dark
Horse Comics)
Writer: Stan Sakai
Artist: Stan Sakai
Synopsis: Created in 1984 by Stan Sakai, Usagi
Yojimbo ("Oo-Sah-Gee" -Gee as in Geese-
"Yo-Jim-Bo"), literally translates to
"Rabbit bodyguard". Set roughly in the
1600's feudal Japan, the story tells the tale of a Master less
Samurai, Myamoto Usagi and his adventures as he
travels the wanders road.
My Say: An awesome Comic, created by Stan,
who really is the nicest guy in Comics. As a massive
fan, who'd never be able to meet him (as I live in
the UK), he sent me some signed Usagi goodies!! Wow!
My favorite characters are Usagi and his son Jotaro. |
Title: Buffy: Season Eight
(Dark Horse Comics)
Writer: Joss Whedon & And Others
Artist:
Georges Jeanty
Synopsis: Creator Joss Whedon brings his Buffy
The Vampire Slayer to Comics in this direct follow-up
to season Seven of the smash-hit TV series. Yep, that's
right folks Season Eight comes to us in comic format.
Follow Joss as he and his team bring us monthly doses
of Buffy, Willow, Xander, Giles, Dawn and the gang, as
they discover life after Sunnydale.
My Say: It's back! Buffy's back! And Written
by Joss himself! This is pure cannon! And, as long as
Angel appears at some point, I'll be very much in the
happy! Fave character? It's got to be bad-ass Faith! |

Linkages aka The World-Wide-Web: There are
some great places to check out on the internet, if
you know where to look. If you want/need to search the internet
for something, the best place to start is
Google.
I've sorted my favourite websites and the places I visit
regularly into categories. Check them out, you may find
something that interests you.
Shopping: We all love to shop! Come on admit it!
Below are the sites I buy from. I am also a frequent eBayer, I both sell
and buy on there.
But, of course, the internet isn't only
for shopping, that's just a part of it.
Forums: I am a frequent
member of a few topic specific forums, mostly Comics. Where I have met
some very nice people over the years.
General: I visit a list of other websites almost
daily. These are in general websites, as they aren't topic
specific. Most are self explanatory, okay?
Family & Friends: Some of my family and friends
also have their own websites as well. So, I thought I'd give
them a little plug. Have a look!
